Command & Bridge (USS Joshua Norton)
This department consists of the command team, and the people needed to run the bridge of the ship.
Commanding Officer Ultimately responsible for the ship and crew, the Commanding Officer is the most senior Intelligence officer aboard a vessel. They are responsible for carrying out the orders of Starfleet Intelligence, and for representing both Starfleet and the Federation. Executive Officer The liaison between captain and crew, the Executive Officer acts as the disciplinarian, personnel manager, advisor to the captain, and much more. They are also one of only two officers, along with the Chief Medical Officer, that can remove a Commanding Officer from duty. As with every member of the crew, the Executive Officer is a fully trained Intelligence officer. Yeoman The yeoman is the command team's right hand, doing anything and everything to help keep their focus on the mission. This includes things like submitting paperwork, helping arrange their schedules, taking notes in briefings, and sometimes even taking the bridge crew's replicator orders. -

Chief Conn The Chief Conn officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who oversees the team of pilots and serves as primary navigator of the ship. They are a member of senior staff. Pilot The Pilot is a fully trained Intelligence officer who is responsible for helm control of the ship as well as piloting or controlling a number of vehicles while on operational deployment.

Tactical (USS Joshua Norton)
This department is in charge of field operations planning.
Chief Tactical The Chief Tactical is a fully trained Intelligence officer who is responsible for all tactical needs aboard the ship and during away missions.
They are responsible for advising the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer on mission-specific areas of importance. Many times, the Chief Tactical Officer knows just as much about the mission as the CO and XO do, if not even more. They also perform mission-specific tasks, and can take on any role that a mission requires them to do.Assistant Chief Tactical The Assistant Chief Tactical Officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the Chief Tactical Officer's right hand — interfacing between the Chief and the department crew, serving as advisor on department operations, and is fully capable of stepping into the chief's role should the need arise. Reconnaissance Specialist The Reconnaissance Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer who obtains, distributes, and shares vital combat and field information on the enemy, and on combat circumstances and environmental conditions. They work closely with the infiltration officer and the chief tactical officer, to help plan field missions. Infiltration Specialist The Infiltration Specialist is an Intelligence officer specialized in the arts of covert operations and infiltration. They are trained to get into and out of enemy installations, territory, etc. Once in, they can gather intel, or if needed co-ordinate with other operatives for the necessary mission objectives, and even in times of war capture enemy personnel. Analyst The Operations Analyst is responsible for the processing and understanding of data and information gathered from the field to produce key mission documents and to report on any trends or patterns that emerge. They do this by using their extensive research and analysis abilities (including statistics). This enables for a fuller understanding of the mission the crew is involved in. As well as this, they are responsible for mission research and the dissemination of this to the field teams. Tactical Personnel Tactical Personnel serve to fill any tactical related needs on the ship or during away missions. -

This department is in charge of ship security.
Chief Security The Chief Security Officer is a fully trained Intelligence officer who is responsible for all security needs aboard the ship. Assistant Chief Security The Assistant Chief Security Officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the Chief Security Officer's right hand — interfacing between the Chief and the department crew, serving as advisor on department operations, and is fully capable of stepping into the chief's role should the need arise. Demolitions Specialist The Demolition Specialist is an Intelligence officer trained in the use of numerous explosive ordinances. They are an expert in the use of explosives for demolitions, clearing, and combat related purposes.
While aboard the ship, they are responsible for assisting in the analysis of any damage caused by explosions, particularly in determining what may have caused them, the training of the crew for effective use of explosives on missions, and the planning of tactical, rescue, and miscellaneous use of explosive charges.Weapon Specialist The Weapons Specialist is an Intelligence officer specifically trained in weapons use and maintenance. They are an expert marksman, and are proficient in the use of small and large firearms; utilizing these skills in the field for offensive support.
While aboard the ship, they are responsible for ensuring all the crew remain firearms certified and provide training for specialized weapons to be used on missions. In addition, they take the role of ship armorer.Security Personnel Security Personnel serve to fill any security related needs on the ship or during away missions. -
Engineering (USS Joshua Norton)
This department is responsible for the performance and maintenance of the ship, and equipment used by the crew.
Chief Engineer The Chief Engineer is a fully trained Intelligence officer and is responsible for the condition of all systems and equipment on board a Starfleet ship or facility. They oversee maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of all equipment. They also co-ordinate repairs during crisis situations.
The Chief Engineer is not only the department head but also a senior officer, responsible for all the crew members in their department and maintenance of the duty rosters.Assistant Chief Engineer The Assistant Chief Engineer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the Chief Engineer's right hand — interfacing between the Chief and the department crew, serving as advisor on department operations, and is fully capable of stepping into the chief's role should the need arise. Research & Development The Research and Development Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer responsible for the creation and distribution of tools and devices used in the field. These devices can range from simple supplies such as clothing, to cleverly disguised standard equipment such as communicators and PADDs, to concealed weapons and specialized tools for unique situations. In the field, this officer is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and training on use of all communications and bugging devices. Assistant Research & Development The Assistant Research & Development Officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the R & D Officer's right hand — providing important Rubber Duckie services, assisting with paper work, testing, design, manufacture, and maintenance of tools and devices needed for field work. Operations Operations is a fully trained intelligence officer who oversees and coordinates day to day operations of the ship, advising the Chief Engineer on needed maintenance, and interfacing with the bridge crew and command team. Computer & Communications Specialist The Computer & Communications Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer responsible for the maintenance and optimization of the ship's computer core and communication systems. Communications aboard a ship or facility take two basic forms, voice and data; both are handled by the on board computer system and dedicated hardware. In the field, their responsibilities include coordinating with the Cryptographer to gain access to computer systems, remote control of systems run by a computer core, as well as advising the field team for interfacing with foreign computer systems. Energy, Propulsion & Life-support Specialist The Energy, Propulsion & Life-support Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer responsible for all power systems on the ship, as well as advising the field teams on how to disable, re-enable, and modify power and propulsion systems. In addition, the hull, bulkheads, walls, Jefferies tubes, turbolifts, structural integrity field, internal dampening field, and environmental systems are all monitored and maintained by this officer. They are also responsible for advising field teams on interactions with and weaknesses of alien structural, power, propulsion and environmental systems. Holographic Specialist The Holographic Systems Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer that has specialized in holographic systems. Aboard the ship they are responsible for the holodeck and combat simulators, as well as maintaining the advanced holocloaking technology, holographic programs, and emitters.
In the field, the Holographic Systems Specialist is able to use their skills to create false images or projections to provide the with team cover or disguise.Transporter Specialist The Transporter Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer who is responsible for the ship's transporter systems. They are responsible for the maintenance and specialized operations of the transporter systems, though most of the crew are capable of day to day normal operations of the systems. Due to the nature of intelligence field work, this will include operation of these systems outside of normal recommended parameters. As such the Transporter Specialist will be on top of all the latest research and developments in the field, as well as updating the ship's systems to take advantage of these advances. Combat Engineer - Astrological Combat Engineers are fully trained intelligence officers, specialized in designing and implementing creative solutions in combat situations. The Astrological Combat Engineer specializes in vessels, habitats, and devices for use within the vacuum of space and other astrological environments. Combat Engineer - Terrestrial Combat Engineers are fully trained intelligence officers, specialized in designing and implementing creative solutions in combat situations. The Terrestrial Combat Engineer specializes in vessels, habitats, and devices for use within a range of semi to fully habital planetary environments. Engineering Personnel Engineering Personnel serve to fill any engineering related needs on the ship or during away missions. -
Medical (USS Joshua Norton)
This department is responsible for the well being of the crew.
Chief Medical The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the physical health of the entire crew, but does more than patch up injured crew members. Their function is to ensure that the crew do not get sick or injured to begin with, and to this end monitors their health and conditioning with regular check ups. If necessary, the Chief Medical Officer can remove anyone from duty, even a Commanding Officer. Besides this they are available to provide medical advice to any individual who requests it.
They are a department head and a member of the Senior Staff. As such, they are responsible for all the crew members and duty roster of their department, as well as all medical fascilities. As with all staff aboard, the Chief Medical Officer is a fully trained Intelligence officer with a specialization in one of the various medicine disciplines.Assistant Chief Medical The Assistant Chief Medical Officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the Chief Medical Officer's right hand — interfacing between the Chief and the department crew, serving as advisor on department operations, and is fully capable of stepping into the chief's role should the need arise. Head Nurse The head nurse serves as the coordinator of the nursing staff, and interfaces between them and the Chief Medical Officer. They focus on the allocation of day to day tasks within the department — including care of patience, maintenance of equipment, and handling smaller medical needs of the crew. Surgeon The Surgeon is a fully trained Intelligence officer and doctor who has elected to specialize in surgery. The Surgeon is responsible for performing complex operations on injured or sick personnel.
Due to the nature of the missions undertaken by the ship, the Surgeon is also responsible for creating the physical appearances and biological markers needed to adopt cover identities. This could range from simple cosmetic surgery or masks to temporary DNA displacement.Combat Medic The Combat Medic is a trained Intelligence officer who has specialized in medicine (this may be either as a doctor or EMT) and provide first aid and front line trauma care during operational deployment when ship or starbase care may not be possible.
While aboard the ship, the Combat Medic provides medical support in sickbay.Nurse Nurse is a position for a mid-level to senior Intelligence NCO. The nurse is responsible for day-to-day low-level care of the crew, handling minor ailments, routine administration and scheduled checkups. The nurse also assists all medical officers as they require so should have a good basic knowledge of all medical disciplines and instruments. -
Counseling
Forensic Psychologist The Forensic Psychologist is a fully trained Intelligence officer who specialized in psychology. In addition to understanding the criminal mind, the Forensic Psychologist uses their training in various psychological disciplines to profile potential targets, victims, or suspects, and conducts interrogations. They also assist in the creation of cover back stories.
In addition to their operational duties, the Forensic Psychologist acts in the capacity of ship counselor, and have basic physical health care training, so that they can step in to assist in an emergency.Counselor The counselor is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves the mental health needs of the crew. They can also step in to assist with negotiations and interrogations in support of the Forensic Psychologist when needed. They also have basic physical health care training, so that they can step in to assist in an emergency.

This department is responsible for the research, cataloguing, and information collection related to science.
Chief Science The Chief Science Officer is a fully trained Intelligence officer and is responsible for all the scientific data the ship collects, and the distribution of such data to specific sections within the department for analysis. They are also responsible for providing the ship's captain with scientific information needed for command decisions. Assistant Chief Science The Assistant Chief Science Officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who serves as the Chief Science Officer's right hand — interfacing between the Chief and the department crew, serving as advisor on department operations, and is fully capable of stepping into the chief's role should the need arise. Linguist The Linguist is a fully trained Intelligence officer that has specialized in alien cultures, linguistics, and communications. This role is responsible for disseminating speech and text intelligence gathered, and reporting on it to the chief of department for trends or key data.
In the field, this officer is responsible for providing cover utilizing alien languages and their understanding of cultures, assisting with the gathering of intelligence from non-Federation standard speakers. They also take responsibility for teaching languages to the crew to assist in field operations.Anthropologist The Anthropologist is a fully trained Intelligence officer that has specialized in alien cultures, living and dead. This role involves the study of new and old languages, texts, alien species, and cultures from the long dead to thriving. As well as this, they are responsible for the cataloguing and understanding of alien artifacts discovered in the field, and analyzing how they affect the present mission. Biological & Chemical Warfare Specialist The Bio/Chem Specialist is a fully trained Intelligence officer who has specialized in the scientific fields of biology and chemistry. This role entails the study of biology, botany, zoology, biochemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry.
The Biology & Chemistry Specialist utilizes these skills in both the field and aboard the ship for the collection and analysis of data related to their field.Forensics Specialist The forensics officer is a fully trained intelligence officer, who is responsible for the analysis of physical evidence in the course of intelligence missions. Science Technician Science Technician is a position for a mid-level to senior Intelligence NCO. The Science Technician is an assistant for all members of the science team and is responsible for the day-to-day working of the science lab. This includes day to day maintenance of the science lab systems and equipment, monitoring ongoing experiments and assisting on away missions with collection and handling of samples. The Science technician works more particularly with the Linguist & Cultural Specialist and the Bio/Chem Specialist day to day, but may also work with the Security and Engineering departments, specifically the Demolitions Specialist and R&D Specialist. -

Mining Administrator/Head of ClanOps To anyone outside of Intelligence, this just looks like a normal desk for someone's career to rot and die behind. Inside the intelligence branch, it's well known this is a position of authority and importance.
The Head of Clandestine Operations for the sector, this position oversees many field operatives and filters information back to HQ. Overseeing the day to day operations of Mining on this little asteroid only serves to keep eyes off the actual important operations undertaken from this base. As part of the front, they still mine, process, and trade ore with Federation and non-Federation alike.Yeoman/Mission Analyst To all outward appearances, the Yeoman simply provides a right hand to the head of the Erebus colony, but in reality, he also serves as the mission analyst for the sector. In addition to coordinating the Commodore's day to day meetings and paperwork, the Mission Analyst sorts through all the relevant data, and makes recommendation on assignments and points out trends in data collected. -

On a small specialized crew, being multitalented is a great asset indeed. This is a list of secondary specializations that any of the crew can be certified for.
Cryptographer Biological & Chemical Warfare Specialist Medic Assisting with emergency medical response, research, and field support, secondary medics step up when the medical department needs help. Engineer Assisting with emergency engineering response, research, and field support, secondary engineers step up when the engineering department needs help. Pilot Stepping in if the primary pilots aren't available, the secondary pilots can fly the ship, shuttles, and some other classes of flight based craft with more skill than simply operating the autopilot. Linguistics In addition to their primary duties, they assist with the translation, communication, and teaching of alien languages. They also have a knowledge of the workings of the universal translator and are able to assist in it's improvement or repair. Infiltration Officer Used when the primary infiltration officer is unavailable, or needs to assemble a team, the secondary infiltration officers are trained to get in and out without anyone knowing they were there.
